Carrollwood is an upscale residential community located in North Tampa bordering Lake Magdaline to the north, Tampa to the east, Egypt Lake to the south and Carrollwood Village to the west.
Carrollwood evolved as the result of the vision of Matt Jetton a developer in the 1950's. His company, Sunstate Builders, purchased 325+ acres of citrus nursery land, just seven miles north of the City of Tampa with a vision of creating housing to relieve crowding in South Tampa. Residents of South Tampa did not care for the rural surroundings of Carrollwood ("the land of lovely water"); but it was discovered by the academia at the newly built University of South Florida located less than ten miles due east. Many prestigious professors and administrators moved to Carrollwood.
By 1959, Carrollwood had become one of the foremost award-winning "subdivisions" in the area and boasted of amenities unheard of at the time, including air conditioned housing, a planned school, neighborhood parks, lake access for all residents and on-call handy man and repair services. The winding roads, many cul-de-sacs and lake views added even more charm to our young community.
Today Carrollwood is a prosperous community and enjoys immense popularity among young families and professionals. Carrollwood is one of the more established residential neighborhoods in north Tampa, which has seen a boom in growth during the past 20 years. Quick access to Dale Mabry Highway and the Veterans Expressway makes getting to other parts of town and Tampa International Airport easy. Carrollwood features excellent schools, libraries, shopping, theaters and parks. Average housing ranges from $100,000 - $700,000.
Carrollwood Village embodies thoughtful planning, offering resident’s golf, recreation centers and fine housing. It was one of the first planned communities in the Carrollwood area of north Tampa. Home buyers can choose from mid-rise condominiums, town houses or single-family homes. Plenty of shopping, restaurants, and public recreation facilities are right in the neighborhood. Average housing ranges from $90,000 - $600,000.
The neighborhoods boast charming homes, sidewalks, shade trees, lake breezes and a real pride of ownership. It is a great place to live, work, shop and raise a family. Residents have access to Lake Carroll for boating, swimming and fishing. Numerous activities are offered at the Recreational Center which is also a hub for many community events.
Carrollwood is a delightful residential community, located in close proximity to all that Tampa Bay has to offer.
